The Karoo is a semi-arid to arid landscape that extends across the western and south-eastern parts of South Africa. It is a harsh yet stunningly beautiful landscape that is a biodiversity hotspot with many unique species. Conservation efforts are focussing on restoring it back to its original wildness with lion once again roaming the area after an absence of two hundred years.
